New start and dismissal times for 2019-20 school year due to new transportation schedule
Posted 7/31/19

bus clockThe Napa Valley Unified School District has spent the last several months closely evaluating our bus transportation services as well as our start and dismissal times for schools across the district where students rely on district and public transportation. This evaluation was a result of the critical work we are conducting across all programs and services to improve efficiency, decrease costs, and make necessary improvements. Our analysis uncovered some inefficiencies across the district’s transportation system that need to be addressed.

Our goal is to improve operational services in the transportation system and ensure our students who take the bus are getting to and from school in a timely matter. In addition, many of our special education students rely on our bussing system to get them to and from school. We need to ensure that our bus system provides all students -- including our special education students -- reliable, timely services. Lastly, we also want to support our teachers by allowing them the collaboration time they need to prepare in their goal to bring valuable new programs and ideas to their curriculum. All of these factors have required us to redesign our transportation schedule for the 2019-2020 school year.

As such, we are changing the bell times and transportation schedules for a few schools. This impact includes some changes in the later start times and early dismissal on Wednesdays. This more staggered approach along with consideration to schools within the same geographic area, will not only save time but also money so that the district can reinvest in learning.

We remain committed to providing our children safe and pleasant bus transportation services to and from school.
